About the Marriage Law Project

What is the Marriage Law Project?

The Marriage Law Project is a public interest legal assistance program that seeks to reaffirm marriage as the union of one man and one woman through 1) participating in key court cases, 2) sponsoring research, conferences, and publications, and 3) offering hands-on, pro-bono legal assistance to interested policymakers and organizations. The Project operates as a part of the Interdisciplinary Program in Law & Religion of The Catholic University of America. Its offices are located in the Columbus School of Law.

The Marriage Law Project was founded in 1996 by David Orgon Coolidge, Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center and a Research Fellow in the Interdisciplinary Program in Law and Religion of the Columbus School of Law.  Robert A. Destro  Director of the Interdisciplinary Program in Law & Religion, is the Principal Investigator & Project Director.
