New South Wales has extended the legal recognition provided to unmarried opposite sex couples to same-sex couples. Property (Relationships) Legislation Amendment Act 1999 (NSW)

The Capital Territory also recognizes same-sex couples for purposes of property distribution and finances on breakdown of the relationship. Domestic Relationships Act 1999 (ACT)
