Cases

In October 1999, the House of Lords in the U.K. issued an opinion in the case of a partner in a same-sex couple who sought to continue tenancy after the death of his partner to whom their residence was rented. In the decision, the court decided that the partner should be considered a family member in order to maintain tenancy of the joint dwelling of the couple. See Fitzpatrick (A.P.) v. Sterling Housing Association Ltd., 2 WLR 225 ( Oct. 28, 1999 )
